According to this Wired article, many (thousands) of Android devices have quietly been using the old Hayes “AT” modem command set for controlling many aspects of device, including the baseband controller and UI interactions. Manufacturers have added undocumented proprietary custom commands to the set to handle many aspects of the control of the device. The worst bit is that access to this command interface is often exposed on the USB interface and accessible when the device is locked!

If you have an Android devices make sure you keep up with the manufacture updates.

Also, when buying an Android device, stick with the large name brands, like Google, Samsung, etc. because they keep up with software updates.
