In the winter, I bought a humidifier with two large reservoir tanks. Each tank turned out to be too large to fit under my refrigerator’s water dispenser, so I was filling them up a couple time a day with a pitcher. It was a little tedious because it took a couple pitchers worth to fill each tank.
I figured I needed to find a way to allow for filling the tanks directly from the water dispenser, and I thought it would be a good exercise in designing something to print on my Ender 3 Pro 3D printer to fit the need.
First I measured the opening to the reservoir tanks with a caliper to find out the opening to the tank and then just eyeballed what kind of funnel shape would be good to be able to push on the trigger on the water dispenser on the refrigerator.
I used the Shapr3D software on my iPad Pro to draw the design and exported it to an STL file that my 3D printer software could use. All I had to do was flip it over so that the wide part was down on the print surface and start the print.
It is a lot of fun finding practical uses for my 3D design software and printer. Check out the pictures and video below to see how the project progressed. If you have any questions about the project, feel feel to use my contact form to ask.
